I love reading Elycia's blog for two reasons.

A. She's not afraid to wear "too-many" colors at the same time

B. She is also planning a DIY wedding

Skunkboy Creatures was the very first blog I ever read.

She was the one who gave me the first speck of inspiration to write my own blog.

I discovered Design by Night through a crafty community called Threadbanger. 

Since then I've been a fan of her tutorials.

Apple Blue is one of my daily reads because she speaks her mind and has great tutorials and tips for bloggers like you and me.

Honestly, I am a new follower of Donna's December. 

But I love all the creativity that I have seen so far.

Gasp!

How did that get in there?

21st Birthday Pics

I had a lovely 21st birthday last week! 

This is the birthday cake that I made for Jenni and I. It took me about an hour and a half to mix all the colors and bake the whole thing. I made it look super boring on the outside so that she would have no idea what was waiting for her once she cut out a piece! 

And THIS Ladies and Gentlemen, is the birthday present that Mike has been secretly working on for 2 months! He sewed me a pouch for all my crochet hooks and bought me a set of bamboo hooks too! Not only that...but he's painting each one for me so they'll all a little special in their own way. I was ecstatic when he handed this to me. He's never made me anything before and this is about the sweetest thing he's ever done for me. 

I love you Mike!

Here are the Birthday Girls!

We're one year and a day apart.

This is a cute little chick plushie that Mike also got for me. 

We named him Freddy, and I crocheted him a little scarf because it's cold outside.

We also had a Christmas concert on Friday that Mike and I went to...here are a couple of pictures of that.

I hope your weekend was a good one. I've got 4 days of finals ahead of me (just took the first one this morning) and it's officially 12 days before Christmas!

Guess Who's Got A Birthday Comming Up?!

I will be turning 21 on the 8th of December (this Wednesday!!!!!!!)

I'm super excited!

It's so happens that Jenni (bff) and I are exactly 1 year and a day apart (I'm older) so we'll celebrating out birthdays together this year.

Hopefully it will include friends, yummy food and a movie.

I just finished making her birthday present last night and I won't post pictures until after she gets it (in case Jenni has the uncontrolled desire to read my blog).I'm very happy with my work...

I'm also making our cake (which will have a surprise inside as well). But you'll all just have to wait and see what I have up my sleeve like everyone else!

Cupcakes All Around!

Last Night

This is my best friend Jenni. She's on Northland's basketball team and they just got all their gear for the season. She was super excited about the  uniforms and the traveling gear but realized that all the team's duffel bags were exactly the same. She came in my room last night asking if I would make her something to go on her bag so she could tell it apart from the rest without looking inside each and every duffel bag.

I was very excited at the challenge...it needed to be something unique just for Jenni, and had to be finished before 8am the next morning (before they left for their first away game).

I came up with this...

It's a little plushie of the number 25 (her jersey number) with a little ribbon loop so Jenni can attach it to her bag. 

I'm really happy with how it turned out...I loooove buttons and tried to pick her favorite colors.

So while I was doing that, Mike and I sat in the hall and he practiced his history lesson on me (it's due today). I know he'll do great, I wish I could be there for the real thing.

He's a senior this year and I'll be sad when he leaves. I still have a wee bit to go before I can graduate, but I'm sure he'll be calling a lot next year to help me with homework (he's so smart). 

This is one of the flowers that I've made. I've only sold one so far but I guess that's because I haven't really been advertising them. Maybe later I can get more pictures up...

Oh! I just found some!

Anywho...I need to get working on some homework!!!

Pine Cone Hunting

Just wanted to say that I was really inspired my all the pine cone projects that I posted earlier today, so my roommate and I went walking around in the woods looking for some pine cones. I tried putting the ones we got right off the tree that hadn't opened yet in the oven to see if they would really open up. Let me tell you...THEY DO! And the room does smell pretty amazing. Just make sure that you get them off the tree before they open up or else they just get hot and dont do very much. 

These are deer tracks...and guess what we saw a little while later on the hike...

Yaaay! I was so excited to see them. There were actually 3 but this is the only one I got a picture off.

We had a real bad storm here last week, and I guess the wind blew down a bunch of the trees.

The hunt went well.

These are the one's that we put in the oven. They actually turned out really well.

Anyway, end of the story is... we got lost and didn't make it back to campus in time for dinner. We had cold cereal and Mike brought us some more food that he had stashed in his room. The pine cones are currently in the oven baking away and they look wonderful! I can't wait to make something with them!

Massive Update

Ok, so I finally got my laptop fixed and figured that it was time for a massive update!

I'll make it short and sweet; you can read about the last few weeks in the picture captions.

This is my best friend Jenni. I've written about her a few times before. Here we are in math class right before taking a test. We get a little hyper sometimes.

I think that she's trying to show off her yellow nail polish....

She has such pretty eyes...

This is us after winning a few games in our society. We had an Olympic theme and won "paper" medals. yay!

The games consisted of hockey, four corners, and, in this game, I had to feed Jenni a banana while blindfolded.

Like I said, I finally got my computer fixed. One of the screws that is essential in holding my screen on got loose. Mike ordered a new one for me but before it got here I found the missing little piece.

This is my friend Jesse; he was kind enough to put it all back together again for me.

I think I'll buy him a coffee as a thank you...

One of the side effects to having your computer screen fall halfway off.

My roommate, and former roommate, sang in chapel on Wednesday. They have such beautiful voices...

I took these pictures quite a while ago; and I just got around to actually editing them and uploading them to the blog...

Jenni and I again...

We're pretty much like sisters.

We're complete opposites in most areas, but totally understand each other like non-other.

This is a friend that I'm keeping for life.
