Feeling Lovey Dovey

Good Thursday to you readers!

Today I woke up feeling a little sentimental.

Allow me to explain with pictures...

This is Mike and I chowing down on a batch of oatmeal cookies.

We got bored with the baking idea and decided to eat all the dough while watching Parks and Recreation.

I thought that this would be a super cute picture, but I accidentally wrote 

"i love you" 

upside down...oops!

I think that this picture of our hands turned out much much better.

Needless to say, I cannot wait to marry this guy.

Why we may not have a flower girl

I'm sure that most of you have seen this picture around the internet...

(sorry for those who are sick of the royal wedding)

And this is exactly the reason why we just might not be having a ring bearer or flower girl at our wedding.

Surely, you are thinking, surely this little flower girl is an angel and was caught on camera at the wrong moment!

Nope...

All I have to go on with this calendar is the picture you see above. Looks like a bottle of dye of some sort with slow absorbing paper? How do they get it to absorb one day at a time?

With my clumsiness, that bottle would be knocked off the wall in no time.

Day at the Museum

Remember way back to this post?

I promised I would upload pictures from my day at the Museums in Montreal...I'm now delivering!

My dad surprised Mom and me by starting off the day with these yummy cupcakes!

The first museum was at the University in Montreal. They had a lot of animal skeletons and a couple of mummies. 

(shivers)

We couldn't really take any pictures in the other two museums because of bad lighting; but I did get a shot of Napoleon's hat!

I thought the hat was pretty cool, but the mummies really took the cake.

I want a Llama

Why?

Why not a fluffy little dog, why not a cuddly kitten, why not a fat hamster or spastic bunny rabbit?

Because a Llama can be all of those at the same time!

I truly don't know why I have recently fallen for the animal; maybe its like a trend but the only one following it is me. 

(hmm... I can apply that to  a lot of things in my life)

Perhaps it will go just as quickly as it came.

But for now...

To My Pooch...

This is my 9 year old puppy, Charlie.

He's a mutt, and I love him. (not more than I love you Mike)

He's getting up there in dog years and I know that someday soon I'll get a call from Mom telling me that my little bundle of fluffy happiness has gone away. But until then, I still enjoy playing with him and chasing him around the house. My family and fiancée still roll their eyes at me when I dress Charlie up or "dance" with him. I don't mind. 

The poor little guy is getting arthritis in one of his front paws. Sometimes he can't make his way up to my bed so a little whimper let's me know that assistance is needed. 

Some funnies...

"If you want the best seat in the house, move the dog."

"If your dog is fat, you aren't getting enough exercise."

(hmmm...thinking there is some truth to this one)

"There is no snooze button on a dog who wants breakfast."

Hot Chocolate...Mmmmm

Mom and I have this thing that we do...at least once a week. We get into our  Pjs and jump on the couch with a warm cup of hot chocolate. Sometimes we'll surf the web together sometimes we'll watch tv but whatever we do, it's always special.

So in honor of that little tradition, let's learn about the glories of hot chocolate!

"Back in the days of the Aztecs, cocoa beans were valuable not only for their culinary importance but also as currency. Cocoa beans were often given as gifts during important ceremonies and festivals. Even so, they also used the roasted beans to make a chocolate drink. Their version is much different from the hot chocolate we know today. The Aztecs actually drank it cold, flavoured with wine and chili peppers, and not at all sweet.

Chocolate was discovered and brought to Europe in the early 1500s by the explorer Cortez. After its introduction in Spain, the drink began to be served hot, sweetened and without the chili peppers. The Spanish were very protective of their wonderful new beverage, and it was over a hundred years before news of it began to spread across Europe.

When it hit London (in the 1700s), chocolate houses became popular and very trendy. It was the English who started adding milk to their chocolate and it was enjoyed as an after-dinner beverage.

It wasn't until the middle of the eighteenth century that chocolate began to evolve past its drinkable form. First, cocoa powder was invented in Holland. Cocoa powder blends much easier with milk or water, allowing for more creations to come. Then came chocolate as a candy by mixing cocoa butter with sugar. In 1876, milk chocolate was developed. From then on, chocolate has become more popular as a solid treat rather than as the drink it started from."

I could not find instructions for this little guy, but I am determined to figure it out on my own. As soon as I do, I'll post a video on youtube for you all.

Can you say yum? These spoons might not even make it into the mug of hot chocolate before their gone!

And this, is the icing on the cake (or the marshmallows floating in the hot chocolate)!

Oh my word! I think I just died and went to heaven!!!!!!

I seriously looked in awe at the mug for like...5 minutes when it first popped up on my computer screen.

So...In a large ovenproof mug combine 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, and 1½ cups hot milk. Top with miniature marshmallows and place under broiler until golden brown and puffed.

I'm so trying this when I get home!

Chinatown FUN

Hey guys,
Hope you're all having a fabulous Monday! 
I had the opportunity to visit Chinatown here in Montreal Canada with my awesome boyfriend Mike. I wanted to share a little snippet of this experience with all of you. 

This is Mike on the Metro "train/bus" on our way to the heart of Montreal.

We had a delicious lunch at a real Chinese restaurant. So good!

Mmmm...my mouth is watering...

Mike ordered a stuffed crab claw, and this is what came out of the kitchen doors. It was...interesting...

Don't ask me what that is. I have no clue.

This, lovely little gem, is dragon fruit. Looks a little scary on the outside, but tastes like a grape on the inside.

What an awesome day. After we went home to eat homemade pizza and cinnamon rolls while watching a movie together. I love having him with me. Long distance relationships are hard, but if both sides love each other and work hard, the relationship can be stronger than ordinary ones.

Besides, not having him around makes every moment I do have with him that much more special. We take not one moment together for granted. Every minute with him is a blessing and wonderful treat!

Sigh...I can't wait until the next time I see his smiling face....
