Wedding Photos: part two

Good Morning Readers,

I hope that you're not all getting tired of these wedding posts. This should be the last "big wedding" post for a while. I miss crafty things and hope to stick a new crochet video up for you soon.

Here I am with my girls and grandma waiting for the ceremony to start. This is actually the room I'll be teaching in this fall.

I love my grandma and we're really close.

My mom and dad...looking beautiful and handsome!

My little ring bearer getting ready to walk...

These were two sisters I had as flower girls. Their ordered dresses came in with a skirt long enough to fit me! They had them shortened and look so terribly sweet.

They paced themselves very well with their flower petals and emptied both their baskets right before stepping up on the platform.

I loooved my long train!

You can see my already turning red in this one...I hate how much I blush.

Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!

Mr. and Mrs. Girr for the first time ever!
(my neck is still red in this one)

My brother and maid of honor/best friend

Mike's brother and sister
(she's gorgeous)

Mike's oldest brother and my little cousin

Mom's cake topper

We had four flavors of cupcakes: chocolate, vanilla, banana/peanut butter, and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.
Our cupcake girl found these cute chocolate wafers with doodled wedding couples.
It was a really nice touch.

I got cake all over my face. As far as I know...it was an accident.

I'll end with this photo of me accepting my cake face fate.
I'll be getting more pictures soon taken by my cousin. She has a very contemporary style and took our awesome engagement photos. You can see her photography blog here.

Until next time...bye bye!

Wedding Photos: Part I

Good Morning Readers,

Well I figured I might as well start posting wedding pictures for you all to see. I mean, I've been married for a few weeks now and I'm sure you just want to get it over with so we can get back to crafty stuff.

First off, my cutey little flower girls and ring bearer. Yeah I know I said a few posts ago that I wasn't going to have kids in the wedding...but I trusted these guys and they did great!

I love love LOVE my bridesmaids and they all looked gorgeous!
(from left to right)
Rebekah, Jenni, Me, Hope

Of course we had to have a kissing picture...

Mom and Dad

I honestly liked the outdoor pictures more than the indoor ones.

And of course we had to give into the fad and have a couple of jumping pictures. I think that my grandkids will be able to date the year I was married because of the jumping fad.

Stay tuned for part two!

Bride’s Secrets

The sleeves on my dress were made from a veil I bought at a consignment shop. Apparently its original price was 400-500 dollars and was sold to the consignment shop after the girl changed her mind. That’s right…she called off the wedding and I cut up her veil!

On my bouquet was a bow made of out lace from my paternal grandmother’s wedding dress, and a brooch from my maternal grandmother. The brooch was latched onto a chain and worn as a necklace by my grandmother at her wedding. Both were golden and very sparkly!

The heart necklace I wore was not originally meant to be tied with a yellow ribbon. A chain had been bought the day before but was too short. As a last ditch effort, I used the last bit of ribbon from decorating.

Ringing In My Ears

Good Sunday morning dear readers,

I promised to share some wedding stories with you, and so if there happens to be a bride-to-be reading along please take heed to my warnings! I’ve been there, done that, and gotten stressed all around!

About a week before the wedding I posted a photo of our wedding bands. What I didn’t post was the story behind them, particularly my wedding band. But I love suspense so I’ll make you read about Mike’s wedding band first.

I got a nice check back from my taxes about a year ago and ask my dad to put it away somewhere safe so I could buy Mike’s wedding ring. Well Christmas came along with all of its sales and “end of the year” deals and I found myself in a jewelry shop while on Christmas vacation in Chicago.  I had been scouting out rings for a few months now and finally found on simple but “gallant” enough for my groom. Luckily, the holiday discounts put the ring right in my budget. I called Mike, just to double check on his ring size, and bought the titanium thing that same day. Of course I had to politely refuse to buy my own wedding band again and again. I wanted to wait until Mike was with me but that sales lady was so pushy! Then after saying “no” for the last time she seemed as though I was more of a bother to her than a customer.
Anyways, a few months later I was sitting on my bed gawking at sapphire wedding bands when it popped up on my screen. A gorgeous sapphire wedding band in white gold and white little white diamonds along the side. I feel totally in love with the ring and was psyched out when I saw its price tag was also in our range.

So we, the unsuspecting happy couple, order the ring and await our wedding day with the best of hopes and dreams. The package arrives at my fiancée’s house and low and behold the ring they sent was green. Not blue, not blue-ish, but as green as the green pepper Mike sliced up for his omelet! Apparently Zales, yes I’ll give you the company name, decided that since they were out of stock of the sapphires, and didn’t bother to remove the ring from their website, they could send a green one and we dumb customers wouldn’t notice the difference. I’m sorry if that’s a little harsh, but when you’re less than 2 weeks away from your wedding and you haven’t got a ring to use a bride kinda freaks out.

Zales assured us that they would send us a ring on the 25th, but our wedding was the 21st.
I can’t tell you how upset I was. On top of all the stress of work, moving, planning, and other wedding drama…I didn’t have a ring to use for the wedding. I was crying my eyes out while sitting on my bed with Mom and Dad trying to comfort me while my brother could only come up with “It’s just a ring. Big deal.”

After going to my eye doctor appointment with bloodshot eyes (embarrassing), Dad took me shopping to the mall as a last ditch effort. He was my hero.

After going into shop and shop and dealing with some very rude people, we found my wedding band. A simple white gold band with little diamonds. I tried it on before realizing it was a size too small, but after some elbow grease and Windex the ring came sliding off my finger. The sales lady assured me that she could have it sized in a day and would have it ready for my wedding.

So, a warning to all future brides everywhere: order your rings way ahead of time and if your jewelry company fails you…write a blog post about it.

Grey Tuxes For The Guys

Who ever thought that picking out tuxes could take so much time? Well….I did.

I blocked out 3 hours when Mike and I went tux shopping. The whole experience took about 20 minutes. We went with a light grey suit since we were going for a semi-formal look. The guys wore light green vests and had white boutonnieres. Mike stood out with a yellow vest, a yellow boutonniere and a giant smile.

The only bump in the road we hit was when Mike went to pick up his tux. The shoes were two different sizes, an 8 and an 11, and his suit coats somehow walked off and hid itself in the storage room.  Luckily we had a few days of wiggle room and the problem was quickly worked out.

Yellow Dresses For My Girls

If you followed along with the wedding preparations, you may remember there being some drama with the bridesmaid dresses. The style I originally fell in love with was way out of any of our budgets, and the dresses we ordered turned out horribly.

Maybe some other brides have had better luck with ordering dresses from China, but ours were the wrong color, improperly hemmed, and one girl never even got hers in the mail!

So I was thrown into a panic trying to find something yellow, affordable, and loved by all three girls. Many tried to get me off the “yellow boat” and said “just get grey” or tried to direct me to something I really didn’t want.

I politely but firmly stood my ground and continued to search for the prefect yellow dress. I had always daydreamed about my girls standing there by me in yellow and I just couldn’t give it up.
I stuck to my guns and was rewarded with these gorgeous yellow dresses. Don’t the girls look beautiful!?

Mrs.Girr

Hello Readers!

I missed writing you all and this post has been long overdue. Mike and I will get internet set up in our new place soon, but until then I'll just do my best at posting when I get in a wifi hotspot.

The wedding was magical. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and my groom any more handsome. I'll be sure to share a series of photos and stories along with our honeymoon destination!
