Bucket List: What's Left

Good morning readers,

Soon I'll be back in my cozy little home and have a chance to upload some stories and photo's with my latest adventures.

Until I get that chance, here are a few adventures I can't wait to have.

This is the last post I think I'll make before I get back.
Hopefully, you will be hearing from me soon!

Have a magical weekend.

Bucket List: Completed

That's right,

I'm still on my honeymoon with the man of my dreams.

Guys, he makes me so happy...I can't wait to share our wedding photos with you.

Till then, check out this two day series on my personal bucket list.

Today I'll list the things I've crossed off.

Yep, I've crossed all of these things off of my bucket list.

Check back tomorrow to see what's left.

Do you have anything you're just dying to do?

Take a guess!

Some of you may be curious as to where Mike and I are exactly.

I'll tell you.

We're on our honeymoon.

Now I know that's not what you really wanted to hear but I'll give you a few hints as to where we are hiding in America.

There's one hint right there, we haven't left the country.

We're not at a beach with sandy shores collecting sea shells.

You won't find us in city lights flagging down a cab.

We've gone somewhere we can really relax and rest from all the wedding bustle. We've gone somewhere we can still be reminded of Vermont but far enough away to be alone.

Any guesses?

I'll tell you when I get back!

Guest Post: DIY Painted Vases

Good Sunday morning readers,

As your eyes scroll across the words typed on this page, I will be on a plane to my week long honeymoon with my new husband! I've scheduled a few posts for all of your while I'm away, but I promise to share wedding pictures soon.

So today's guest post is made by a friend of a friend of mine. I never knew that Alissa was so crafty but after reading her post....well...I'll let her work speak for herself!

Hello, friends! I'd first just like to say how excited I am to be a part of Craft Month on Brittney's blog today. I ramble blog over at The Illiterate Author and have recently gotten my feet wet in the world of DIYand am absolutely loving it! I've been following Brittany's blog for quite a while now, and have loved seeing all of her crafty creations. I especially love that her posts are actually doable. You don't need a masters degree in modern art to be able to follow along, and I for one appreciate that.
And speaking of crafty creations--while browsing Pintrest recently (I'm addicted), I came across this pin:

The caption simply said "Wine bottle, tape design, spray paint!" Since I don't drink, I don't have any wine bottles laying around, but I loved the possibilities this idea opened for artsy vases. I love quick, easy projects, so I decided to give it a try. I ended up loving how it turned out!
Here's what you'll need to create your own:

A can of spray paint. I used white because I had it on hand, but it could also be fun to try this in other colors.

Masking tape.

A jar/vase/container of your choosing. I used what I'm pretty sure was supposed to be a pasta jar I picked up from a tag sale for $.50. You've got to love crafting on the cheap!

Wax paper.

Once you've gathered your supplies, you can start taping off your design. Really, your creativity is the limit on the designs you can come up with. I chose to do three lines that decreased in width by overlapping two pieces, using a single piece in the middle, and trimming a piece for the top.

Now that your design is taped off, you're ready to get painting. If you can, do this step outside as the fumes are quite strong. Since I brilliantly chose to do this project on the hottest day of the summer, I ended up in the bathroom with newspaper and the bathroom fan on. If you do have to do it inside, be sure to lay down plenty of paper.
Oh, and here's where the wax paper comes in. Place a sheet of wax paper beneath the vase before you begin painting to avoid the vase sticking to the newspaper. I learned this the hard way.

Now spray her up! To avoid drips, hold the can around a foot away from your container and apply a thin, even coat. In my experience with spray paint, you're a lot better off doing two or three light coats than one heavy coat.

Don't forget the bottom! Make sure all the sides are dry before flipping it over to avoid finger prints or smudges

Allow the vase to completely dry, and then peel off the masking tape. You now have a fabulous, up-cycled vase! Fill it with whatever makes you happy, place it somewhere prominent, and wal-la! You're an artist!

What-cha think? I love the way it turned out, and think I might experiment with containers of different sizes and shapes.
Happy Crafting!

Getting Married TODAY!

Today's my lucky day!

Today I get to marry my best friend and change my name to Mrs.Girr!

Today I married my best friend,
Our bond complete, it hath no end,
We share one soul, we share one heart,
A perfect time - a perfect start.
With these rings we share together,
Love so close to last forever,
This special day - two special hearts,
Let nothing keep this love apart

DIM: Do it myself wedding programs!

Good morning readers,

I wanted to show off the wedding programs I just finished assembling. I designed the front cover about a year ago. I drew two cartoon versions of Mike and I. One of us in casual clothing for our "Save the Date" postcards, and another with us dressed up in wedding attire for the programs.

The design and printing of this thing took many many hours and lots of elbo grease. You wouldn't know how hard it is to find a yellow that's not neon or "greenish" until you've printed a bagillion of these.

So you walk into the classic white church and the usher hands you this cute little handy dandy booklet with all the info you'll ever need to know for the next half hour!
Look how organized this little guy is. Awww!

As you flip through the pages and smile at the little old lady that just walked past your pew, you see this page called Fun Facts. "What's this?" you think. Well it's just a little page to keep you in the know and on top of any wedding trivia you may need to impress that cute guy sitting behind you.
Ahem...
You'll read all about the handmade goodness of this wedding and the little momentos that the bride is secretly carrying in her bouquet.

You eventually flip over to the last page and see this darling picture of the darling wedding couple and read their darling message to the darling guests and family. How darling!

Oh! What's this? They have also included their new home address at the bottom of the page! Too bad those two hearts are covering the address. I guess you can't stalk her now. Bummer.

Our Wedding Bands

Good Morning Readers,

Again, I appoligize for how short the posts have been recently. Wedding's take a lot of time and I can't wait for our honeymoon so I can catch my breath again!
I just wanted to zip by and show off our wedding bands. I just got mine on Thursday and was so nervous that it wouldn't fit. Luky for me the thing slipped right on and I left the store a happy bride to be!

The sapphire heart ring is my engagement ring. I <3 it like my fat dog <3 bacon from the breakfast table!
The wedding band is white gold, to match the sapphire ring, and has 4 diamonds that sparkle beautifully. Mike's ring is virtually indistructable and super heavy.

Only seven more days until we slip them onto each other's fingers!!!

P.S. Here's a picture taken seconds after I said "Yes!"

What's she up to anyway?

Good Morning Readers,

My Craft Month contributers have been a little scarse all of a sudden. Maybe I'll get a few of them to pull through for me in the end. Until then, how bout a little update on what's up in my world?

The past few weeks have found me driving back and forth from Canada to Vermont. Mom, Mike and I have been working super hard on getting our new home ready. We've been painting, and cleaning, and thrifting for some cool furniture. I honestly cannot wait to get some pictures up and show off all of our hard work.

I've got my dream yellow kitchen and working on making out living room that sweet log cabin Mike has always wanted.

There's isn't a better mom in the whole world than my mom. Poor girls has been driving for hours at a time, sitting in a hot car with no air conditioning, and staying up super late just to finish painting. I love her to death and just hope to be as great a mother as she is.

I said "no!"

Good Morning Readers!

The wedding date is approaching and the my to-do list just seems to be growing longer by the minute.
I didn't think it was right for me to leave the blog empty today so I decided to show you three of the wedding dresses I will NOT be wearing on the 21st.
I can't wait to show off the gorgeous gown currently residing in my closet, but go ahead and have a look at these "rejects".

Do keep in mind that these photo's are from last year and I have lost some weight since.
These first two were picked out by my Mom and Dad.
I chose not to buy either of these, because te first one seemed about 20 years outa date and the second one made me itch like I was wearing a sandpaper bag!

This last beauty was picked up by my grandmother. I love the woman to death, but sadly this dress never even made it to the dressing room.

Goodness is she dead or something?!

Hello Readers!

No, as the title asked above, I am not dead.
I've been swamped with wedding drama after wedding drama (stories later) and on top of everything my computer decided to take a shower. Ok ok, so a window got left open and it kinda rained really hard...
Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that Craft Month is still on (as long as my contributers are still on board) and as long as I an borrow a laptop every couple of days.

I'll be Mrs.Girr in just a few days so I've got lots of things to cross off my to-do list!

Hang on with me dear Readers, this montain of a wedding will go off without a hitch in the end and we'll be back to our regular crafty blog posts!
