Toasty November: Curl up with a book
Ooooh!!
The weather outside is frightful,
The weather outside is frightful,
And the fiiiiiire is sooo delightful,
And since there's no place to go...
Let's stay inside and cozy up with a book!
"The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it."
~James Bryce
I heart this bookshelf idea.
Just head on over to goodwill and pick out some really pretty vintage books.
Yes...it's OK to judge a book by it's cover.
I can see Mike now...
"What did they do to that book! You can even read it anymore! This is terrible!!"
He loves books and strongly believes that the pages should never be folder over or highlighter or anything.
I love books too, but I also love art and creativity. Let's just say...this was a bad book and now we've turned it into something magical.
This has got to be one of the coolest ideas anyone has ever had!
Ok, maybe not THE coolest, but it's very creative.
I tracked down this image's source hopping to find a tutorial at the other end but alas...this is all I found.
This is definitely on my "want" list.
The Little Prince, or Le Petit Prince is a classic loved by all the children in Quebec. At least the kids I grew up with.
BONUS!
Mayi Carles uploads an inspirational help video to her blog every Friday.
This last one was so helpful for me...I just had to share.
Have a great weekend

Toasty November: Mittens
I wiggle my left hand,
I wiggle my right,
Inside of my mittens,
So warm and tight.
I wiggle my pinkie,
I wiggle my thumb,
So when I made snowballs,
My hands won't go numb.

The Short Life of a Mitten
I'm sliding down the driveway,
I'm falling off my sled,
I'm rolling down the hillside,
I'm standing on my head,
When playing in a snow bank,
It's hard to have control,
I wonder how my mittens,
Got such a large hole!

Yes, I know what you're thinking...and yes...I found a tutorial for these.
You're welcome.

Toasty November: Staying Warm
These cold winds have turned my nose and cheeks cherry red and taken away all feeling in my nose and fingers.
I'm finding a bunch of ways to stay toasty warm besides hiding under my covers.
Tip #23
Walk in the sunlight.
It's a natural heater, it's free, AND you'll get your daily dosage of Vitamin D.
Tip #47
Run up the stairs.
I started doing this for exercise and to release those happy little endorphines!
I soon discovered that my body became much warmer for 15-20 minutes.
Tip #12
Get a snack.
This doesn't have to be a heated snack necessarily, although that does help, but just the digestive system kicking into gear will warm you up.
Tip #21
Put on socks.
No, you don't lose a ton of your body heat through your feet, but ice-cube toes don't make happy feet.
Tip# 96
Hold someone's hand.
Because he/she will warm up those frozen fingers and give your heart a squeeze.

Over a cup of coffee
I can remember several occasions when Mike and I had coffee dates.
They would normally be totally spontaneous on happy, sad, or "let me cheer you up!" moments.
Sometimes we would surprise each other at our meet up spot with a cup or Pumpkin Spice Chai, or Peppermint Hot Chocolate.
It really didn't matter what was in the cup, as long as it was warm and shared with one you loved.
I remember these simple little dates with Mike as much as I remember the big extravagant ones.
Those small moments spent together were precious and I know it brought us closer with every sip.
As a tribute to the warm drink poured out from heaven...
"Coffee is a beverage that puts one to sleep when not drank."
"Do you know how helpless you feel if you have a full cup of coffee in your hand and you start to sneeze?"
