Sadly, we don't live in a dream world were vegetables taste like ice cream. It's up to us to pick and chose what we will eat and why we are going to eat it. 

Lately, I've really been watching what I put in my stomach. 

"Do I REALLY need 2 cookies? I bet I could just eat one slowly and be just as satisfied."

"I'm craving something sweet, how about I swap the ice cream for some strawberries!"

" I need some munchies, I'll ditch the chips and go for some baby carrots instead."

Healthy Lifestyle

If you remember a little while back, I made a post about kick starting a healthy lifestyle with my week's challenge. I also made this printable list for you guys.

I've really been working hard with staying healthy. Since I've started yoga and eating smarter, I've really noticed a change in my body.

I feel better, have more energy, and have lost some weight (yay me!).

This week, we'll focus on getting healthy...together! Let's start with those 8 glasses of water we should be drinking every day.

Places I want to visit: France

On my list of places to visit, France is in the top five.

I want to walk down an old French street and smell freshly baked bread.

I want to eat  a real croissant in a real French bistro with my cafe au lait.

I want to get my picture taken by the "Tour Eiffel'!

Yeah, I wanna be in the girl in that picture.

Did you know...

- At one point in time, France made it illegal to sell faceless dolls?

- France is the most popular tourist destination in the world?

- The Phamtom of the Opera was written in France during the 18th century?

- France has earned the most Nobel prizes for excellent literature?

- France was second to America in using electricity?

Fun Fact- Gustave Eiffel not only built "Le Tour Eiffel", but also the Statue of Lady Liberty. He modeled her face to look like his mother.

Christmas Decorations- Part 1

I know I'm starting early, but Christmas is my second favorite holiday (second to Easter). I'm just bursting with excitement and joy; my blog has to reflect that. 

So, let's start!

Today we'll look at the Christmas stocking. There are plenty of stories out there explaining the origin of the popular Christmas decoration. Here is just one of them. 

"The tradition of the Christmas stockings began by a story told since ancient time about a kind noble man who had three daughters. The wife of the nobleman expired and the daughters and their father were left in a state of sorrow. The daughters had to do all the work in the house. When the daughters became young and eligible for marriage, the poor father could not afford to give the huge dowries to their husbands.

One evening the daughters, after washing their stockings hung them near the fire place to be dried. Santa Claus being moved by the plight of the daughters came in and put in three bags of gold one in each of the stocking hanging by the chimney. The next morning the family noticed the gold bags and the nobleman had enough for his daughter’s marriage. The daughters got married and they lived happily ever after. Since then children have been hanging Christmas stockings."

Each stocking should be unique and reflect the personality of the owner. It's fun to get everybody together ,before decking out the house with garland and lights, and make stockings together. I think that making crafts together can give families that valuable time back that sports, careers, and cell phones have taken away. It's great and all to be well rounded and be active in so many things, but never forget that your one on one relationships are what really matter. They are what count the most in the end.

Great! Let's get started!

Draw a mitten template or download the free pattern (below), print it out, then cut around the outline. Transfer the pattern to two pieces of felt and use sharp scissors to cut along the outline of the mitten pattern.

Sew a star on the finger portion of one mitten using contrasting yarn or floss; make a French knot in the center. (To make a French knot, bring the needle through from the backside of the felt. Keeping the yarn taut throughout the process, wrap the yard around the needle two times, then bring the needle back through the felt near where it emerged. Pull gently to tighten the knot.)

With a large crafts needle and contrasting color yarn, sew a running stitch to join the two mitten shapes together, leaving an opening at the wrist. For a decorative band, glue felt strips along the open edge. For a hanging loop, cut a felt strip; stitch to one edge of the opening.

Google Chrome

First off, just wanted to say that Google is not paying me for writing this (although if they would that would be pretty sweet for my school bill), but anyway if you love Firefox, and all the gadgets and what not on your current web browser but want more speed then you need to check out Google Chrome.

It's pretty cool. The free download is right here.

It's faster, got some nice features on it. I especially like the fact that I can chose my own "skin" for the browser and have as many tabs as I want. If I want a tab to be it's own window then I can just pull it out or rearrange them how I want. You can also take a window and turn it into a tab by clicking and dragging on it.

Try it out, I highly recommend this browser.
