How to write a love letter

Remember your first love letter?
Maybe in was in high school and you found a little heart hidden in your backpack.
Maybe it was an e-mail written in red letters.
Maybe you've been wanting to write your own but not really sure where to start.

Writing a love letter can be a little difficult and intimidating.
I mean, how on Earth can one really express the way he feels on paper? There's no facial expressions, no hand gestures, and no tone of voice. Just letters on paper.

You don't have to be a poet to write a proper love letter. Just relax, follow these steps, and above all...just be who you really are.

1. Chose your paper.
Will is be a card, postcard, notebook paper?

2. Find a quiet place.
Sitting in front of the tv or the back seat of the car is not the most ideal place to gather all your thoughts.

3. Reflect on the person you're writing to.
Think about their face, their voice, their laugh! Look at pictures on facebook if you have to. This will help you start thinking those lovey dovey thoughts.

4. Start off with a little hello and some news.
This could be a funny story or something that just happened the other day.

5. Tell them what you appreciate about them.
Ease in from the greeting to what you really find special about this person. Everyone loves being told how awesome they are. Be honest, and remember that a little goes a long way.

6. Talk about a memory you both share.
This could be a date or even when you bumped into each other in the hallway.

7. Remind them again why they are so special to you.
Don't repeat yourself from step 5. Think of something new to say.

8. Say "I love you".
I always love to save these words for the last few sentences. Helps bring the letter to a close and give that "awwww" feeling to the reader.

9. End your letter and say goodbye.
Something like "can't wait to see you again" or "hope you have a wonderful day"

10. Make it your own.
You're letter is now written, but let's make it extra special! Make a little doodle on the envelope or in the corner of the page. Insert a photograph or even spray with your perfume.
(no, that last one isn't silly...they guys love it!)

Now mail the letter to your sweetheart, or hide it where they are sure to find it soon!

Our Engagement Story

The Monday right after Christmas, Mike took me on our best date ever.
We went ice-skating. I know that may sound rather simple to some girls who always picture themselves going out to dinner at a nice place, then some other random activity...but I find joy in the smallest and simplest of things.
Ice-skating is one of them. In fact...it's just about my favorite thing ever!
So we went ice-skating, and have a lovely time except for the part where I landed on my knee...on the ice...ouch...
Mike was taking a bunch of pictures which is rather unusual for him because he's rather camera shy. After about an hour and a half of holding hands while gliding across the ice, we decided it was time to go.
We took off our skates and left the rink to wait for our ride outside. Mike spotted a bench not too far off so we braved the knee deep snow and the cold as we climbed up to the bench.
A pile of snow has made the bench it's home, but that was no obstacle for Mike and his gloves. We sat, chatting a bit, for a few minutes when Mike began telling me how much he loved me. He made a sweet speech and reached into his pocket as he knelt down in front on me (in the snow)!
Then he pulled out the most gorgeous ring I've ever seen and ask me to marry him. I started crying and don't even remember if I was able to blubber out "yes".
We quickly took a few pictures and afterwards he picked me up and twirled me around like a little girl.
It was so perfect, and I'm pretty sure I was still glowing the next day!

Current plans are to set the date in the summer of 2012!!!!

21st Birthday Pics

I had a lovely 21st birthday last week!

This is the birthday cake that I made for Jenni and I. It took me about an hour and a half to mix all the colors and bake the whole thing. I made it look super boring on the outside so that she would have no idea what was waiting for her once she cut out a piece

And THIS Ladies and Gentlemen, is the birthday present that Mike has been secretly working on for 2 months! He sewed me a pouch for all my crochet hooks and bought me a set of bamboo hooks too! Not only that...but he's painting each one for me so they'll all a little special in their own way. I was ecstatic when he handed this to me. He's never made me anything before and this is about the sweetest thing he's ever done for me.
I love you Mike!

Here are the Birthday Girls!
(she turned 20 and I turned 21)
We're one year and a day apart.

This is a cute little chick plushie that Mike also got for me.

We named him Freddy, and I crocheted him a little scarf because it's cold outside.

We also had a Christmas concert on Friday that Mike and I went to...here are a couple of pictures of that.

I hope your weekend was a good one. I've got 4 days of finals ahead of me (just took the first one this morning) and it's officially 12 days before Christmas!

Bye Bye!

My Friends got Engaged!

My friends got engaged over Thanksgiving break! It was so sweet and he totally surprised her!
He even took her ring shopping a few hours before he asked her (the ring was in his pocket the whole time) then he took her out to eat and finished up with a lovely walk.
He stopped by the Christmas tree and sang a song to her that he wrote himself, and at the end he got down on one knee asking her to marry him!
Soo Sweet...

I just had to share some of their pictures with you.

Gorgeous ring too!

And this just makes me sigh!
I've searched online and through friends photo albums for couple picture ideas...this one takes the cake and as much as I would like to replicate it on my own with Mike...I don't think it would do this picture justice.

Date Night- Continued

So here is another picture of our date night. We really had a lovely time in each others company. Going to see "Prince Caspian" totally beats spending free time in the library. Don't get me wrong, I love books and getting ahead on homework, but after a while...a nice scenery change is greatly appreciated.

Sneek Peek- Our Date

Sigh...I'm in love!

Ahhh... what a wonderful night I had tonight.
I began my morning with some homework and became extremely frustrated with my math assignments that Mike had to help me for about an hour. He was very patient with me and onced we were done I understood all the concepts.
I then ran to work and spent several hours there and was about 20 minutes late to our pizza date.
We played Yhatzee again (so much fun) picked out some of the best seats in the house to watch the play "Prince Caspian".
It was a wonderful night and I didn't want it to end.
I will write more tomorrow and post pictures!
:-)
