In love with Pinterest

Whenever I've needed a little bit of inspiration, would hit the blogs or type something in "google images".
I could normally find just what I was looking for, but I've finally jumped on the band wagon and gotten into Pinterest
Just this morning, I've probably spent half an hour just gawking at all the pictures and creativity going on over there.

Why didn't I look sooner???

I know that these pictures may seem a little random, but I picked these because I can use these ideas for my classroom, wedding, and home.

Oh!
And I've discovered a really cool photo editing app on Chrome.
It's called Pixr O Matic.

I really like the bubbles....

Perfect Pumpkins

I don't know how you spent your Saturday...but I got to spend mine with this cutey!

It's so nice to have him near by, and he doesn't mind helping me out with homework!
I needed some pumpkin stickers for one of my student teaching classes and Mike must have spent 3 hours driving all over creation trying to find some for me.
Isn't he a sweetie?

Girls...if meet a great guy, you'll have fun for the rest of your life.
Ok, on with the last Fall Roundup!

"Here's a super simple 20 minute fall craft that you don't even need a sewing machine to make.
These pumpkins are basically a big stuffed yo-yo that I've wrapped some jute around to make
a pumpkin shape and stem."
-Lynn

"I've seen them [pumpkins] made all kinds of way in my short life and figured I would just throw some together. One of my goals was to use up fabric I have because our move made me realize I have way more than I need and I need to utilize what I have whenever I can instead of buying more."
-Jessica

"This might just be the most easy & quick tutorial I've ever done. I got the idea from a fellow MOPS mom (Mothers of PreSchoolers) at the MOPS convention I recently returned from in Dallas. Thanks Kaci!"
-Nikki

"Crochet yourself a pumpkin – the perfect pattern for autumn! With this one basic pattern, you can create a realistic pumpkin for your Fall table, a cute amigurumi-style pumpkin for the kids, or a spooooooooooooooky pumpkin for Halloween."
-June

And I have saved the best tutorial for last...
Get ready for your jaw to drop.
Mine did!

"A very creative and lovely Mr. Kate reader, Jenny May Meyers tweeted a link to me yesterday for these melted crayon pumpkins! what a perfect combo between the Melted Crayon Art DIY and the No Carve Pumpkin DIY! i love these Jenny, great job!"
- Mr.Kate

I hope that you have enjoyed this mini series.
It felt so good to blog again.

Pretty Wreaths

Yay!
You came back for more!
That makes me feel so warm and funny inside...just like a squirrel.
*smiles*
My mom and I love making wreaths.
She's great at buying a wreath from the store and arranging the flowers, leaves and what not; but I love making them from scratch. I had a friend teach me how when I was 12 or 13 years old.
It really isn't that difficult. It just takes lots of patients and time.
But if you're not up to starting from nothing, then check out these tutorials that I've rounded up for you.
Go on, have a look!

"Get into the spirit of fall with a unique and handcrafted wreath in warm autumn colors! This fall wreath is super easy and very inexpensive to make – I purchased everything to make this wreath for under $10!"
-Crafting Mom

'

"I'm smitten with yarn wreaths."
- Danielle

'

"Let me tell you — this is a fast and easy project."
-Jen

"I am loving indoor wreaths,
just adds a little fun inside."
-Kristin

Sticks and Things

The leaves have started to change colors, and the wind is getting colder.
Have you broken out your mittens, hat, and scarves yet?
I have!
I just love the fall. All of my favorite colors are all around me and getting all bundled up in a cozy sweater is just the best feeling ever.
I've been crazy busy with school, but I think I need a break.
I think that we all need a break.
So I've found some crafty girls and added them to my mini Fall Tutorial Roundup.

I can't wait to show you what they've come up with!

"I have been feeling extra crafty lately! This project is so easy, your children could do it... and the result is adorable! Here's how to make a woodland chic fabulous vase!"
-Dana

"Sara Vukson of Zemphira has a cute and festive fall craft to share: DIY fabric acorns! All you need is a few basic materials and some sewing knowledge to make your own."
-Indie Spotting

"A few years ago I made a cute little leaf garland at the start of September. Now, it's a mini tradition and I always enjoy making something cute and decorative to ring in the new season every year. Would you like to make one too? I thought you might!"
- Elsie

"You may have seen the tutorial for felt pinecones that I recently posted. I was pretty happy with the final outcome!...Here is felt pinecone tutorial, #2... This one doesn't take as much time to do, and uses less felt, but the end result is pretty awesome!
- Salt Tree

"These are going to be a FANTASTIC addition to our nature table! Crafting and education all wrapped up into one felty fun project *grin*."
-Rosina

Be sure to drop on my these blogs and let the girls know how awesome you think their tutorials are!

My Sweet-Wicked-Awesome Bulletin Board

Happy Wednesday Everybody!

This has been such a hectic couple of weeks for me with midterm exams and projects
(one of which I will show off in a moment).
But hey, that's what being a senior is all about right?
I know that I'll be so thrilled to march across the stage and snatch that diploma and never ever ever let go!

So this is my educational/interactive/self-correcting/textured/3D bulletin board!
Wow, that's a lot!

I was soooo happy to finally finish it.

I used a light blue sheet as the background fabric, and some diy skills to turn a few t-shirts into hot air balloons. The original idea was to have crayon boxes as the balloon baskets, but my teachers thought this might be a little too much color and would confuse the students.

The point of the board was to reinforce my fake student's knowledge about colors.
I wanted to see if they knew what would happen when they mixed two different colors together.
Did they know what blue and yellow looked like mixed together?

I'm not sure what my grade is yet. I hope to find out very very soon!
Projects like this just make me more excited to get out there next year and teach.

Here come the bridesmaids!

"The Western bridesmaid tradition is thought to have originated from Roman Law, which required ten witnesses at a wedding in order to outsmart evil spirits (believed to attend marriage ceremonies) by dressing in identical clothing to the bride and groom, so that the evil spirits would not know who was getting married. Even as late as 19th century England, there was a belief that ill-wishers could administer curses and taint the wedding. In Victorian wedding photographs, for example, the bride and groom are frequently dressed in the same fashion as other members of the bridal party."

Luckily, I don't believe in luck.
I'm choosing my bridesmaids will not be surrounding me as shields to evil spirits, but my good friends who will help me when my nerves are high and when I need support.

While I'm still on the hunt for "the" dress my girls will be wearing, I've got my color scheme down.
The maid of honor (Jenni!) will be in a fresh, grassy green and the other 3 girls will be in a nice yellow that's not too bright. They will be carrying down white bouquets to give that "pop" effect.

Another thing to check off the list would be to print and send out the "Will you be my Bridesmaid" cards.
I drew these illustrations this summer (inspired by Elycia) and plan on using them for the cards.
How cute will that be?

Here are some more super cute bridesmaid tutorials I found...

I hope that you all have a very productive Saturday!
